Jordi Gené Mola received the B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universitat de Lleida (Spain) and VIA University College (Denmark) in 2013, showing an excellence academic records that were recognised with an academic special mention grant (AGAUR), the Special Mention Award to the best academic records (Universitat de Lleida) and the Enginy Award to the best final project of Mechanical Enginering (Col·legi d'Enginyers Tècnics de Lleida). Then, he was employed as a mechanical engineer in the GILI GROUP I+D team. In parallel with this job, he received the M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering (Universitat de Lleida - 2015), where he was recognised with the Special Mention Award to the best academic records (Universitat de Lleida), the Enginyers 2015 Award to the best final project (Col·legi d'Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya), and the Best Student Award 2014/15 (Escola Politècnica Superior - UdL).
After three years of professional experience in the GILI GROUP I+D team, he was granted with an FPU pre-doctoral contract (Spanish Ministry of Education) to start his PhD studies in University of Lleida, at the PhD programme in Agricultural and Food Science and Technology (mention towards Excellence MEE2011-0378). In parallel with the PhD studies, he also received the M.Sc. degree in Computer Vision from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2018). During his PhD studies, he also did two research stays: 10 months at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain), and 3 months at Wageningen University and Research (ranked as the Best World University in the field of Agriculture and Forestry - QS and Shanghai Rankings) (Netherlands). In 2020 he defended the PhD thesis (international mention) entitled 'Fruit detection and 3D location using optical sensors and computer vision' comprised of 7 scientific articles (4 Q1-JCR + 3 Q2-JCR), qualified with an Excellent Cum Laude and awarded with the Special Doctoral Award to the best PhD thesis in the area of Agronomic Engineering (University of Lleida).
He is currently working as postdoc researcher in the Research Group in Precision Agriculture (GRAP), University of Lleida, and granted with a Margarita Salas postdoctoral contract for a two-year research stay in the Image Processing Group (GPI), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
